| Hi! My mom collects cookbooks and reads them like novels! She has over 500...interesting ones not just the plain old ring bound church potluck type;she has everything from raw foods cookbooks to North african to restaurant's cookbooks and secrets revealed.*grin* I havent really used cookbooks or recipes in general in my cooking in years;I learned a lot of concepts and flavor palettes and techniques then just use my creativity from that point...with one exception...baking.I bought the King Arthur Flour 200th anniversary cookbook and it is a veritable tome of knowlege and interesting reading;I wouldnt give it up for anything! I do have a few other cookbooks that I refer to from time to time and they also are irreplacable to me they are: Less With More (By the Mennonite Central Committee) it is a cookbook giving concepts, ideas and recipes for getting more nutrition with less cost both financially and to the environment;lots of recipes from simple foods from cultures around the world. And their followup cookbook; Extending the Table; recipes from missionaries from all over the world;not americanized;but the actuall way/ingredients/flavors used in the cultures they come from. And my last one is Ireland,Csotland and Wales-its history in food and drink; this book fascinates me;being Irish/Scottish/Welsh myself*grin* and has everything fromboxty and champ to guiness icecream!
