Apple-Walnut Cobbler with Cinnamon
serves 9

5 cups of thinly sliced peeled cooking apples
3/4 cup of chopped walnuts
1/4 cup of sugar
1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
1 cup of all purpose flour
1/2 cup of sugar
1 tsp of baking powder
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup of evaporated milk
1/3 cup of butter or margarine, melted
Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream optional
Ground cinnamon optional

Lightly grease a 2 quart square baking dish. Spread
the apples in prepared dish. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of
the walnuts.
In a small bowl stir together 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/2
tsp of cinnamon, sprinkle over the apples.
In a medium mixing bowl stir together the flour, 1/2
cup of sugar, and baking powder.
In a small mixing bowl combine the egg, evaporated
milk and melted butter or margarine. Stir into the
flour mixture until smooth. Pour evenly over apples,
sprinkle with remaining walnuts.
Bake in a 325 degrees oven for 50 to 55 minutes or
until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center
comes out clean. To serve, cut into squares. Serve
warm. If desired, top with whipped cream or ice cream
and sprinkle with additional cinnamon.
