This recipe was posted as "Pushcart Onion Sauce" by Frank May about 3 weeks ago and was suggested as a topping for hot dogs.
I made mine with more hot spice than was called for, and have found it not only great on hot dogs, but also on burgers, steak, on pasta with some melted mozzarella, on taco beef...You get the idea.
Try it on whatever fancies you. I'll bet it would be great with rice as a version of dirty rice and beans.

What do you do with this concoction once you have it made? Is it eaten plain or do you put it over noodles or rice?

dear friends, In a medium skillet, heat oil over medium heat; add onions and sauté until golden and limp, about 7 minutes. Stir in ketchup then add cinnamon, chili powder, hot pepper sauce, and salt. Stir in water and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low, and simmer, uncovered, for about 10 minutes, or until mixture is heated through.
