Hi, In the USA The colored sugar is called "decorating sugars" ,You find them in bottles, and Packages, where baking goods are . My Grandmother from Germany use to call it " caster sugar?" They are larger crystal sugars ,that are dyed a color to be used to sprinkle over cookies and cakes. Kosher salt is a sea salt it is heavy grained crystals. it melts more evenly over the item you are cooking. I think it has a milder flavor than table salt? It is good on meats it melts during the baking process , or things where " crunch" isn't a factor . Not good in dishes where you do not cook in liquid, or do not mind the larger salt grains on the surface of the cooked item . I use it all the time . I think it has a milder flavor for meats and poultry. I would never use it in baking ( well maybe pretzels) or on things like eggs I use it to cook potato's sauces, meats, stews . And table salt for other things. Hope that helps ?
